our weekend

We had a wonderful time in Baton Rouge this weekend. Rob's brother Brian drove up from Houston on Wednesday and Mark flew in from San Antonio on Friday. We went out to eat at P.F.Changs (one of my favorite places to eat) on Friday and it was wonderful. Saturday morning we drove to Baton Rouge for the LSU/MS State game. After lunch at Chimes (my favorite place in BR to eat) we wasted some time at the mall, then went to check into our hotel. That was a wonderful part of my day b/c I got to watch the last part of the Ole Miss/Florida game...which the Rebels WON!! Rob is use to my crazy screaming at games and at the TV, but I really think I scared Brian and Mark. I can't help it though...I love Ole Miss football! So after my screams and cheers were contained, we headed to campus. There was so much traffic when we got there, that Rob dropped us off while he parked in the last parking lot available. He made it in time to join us as we watched Mike the tiger, the team, and the band come down the hill. The game was good and LSU won so we were all happy. Even the LSU fans cheered when they announced that Ole Miss beat Florida. We were so glad to get to spend some time with Brian and Mark. Thanks for coming guys!

Are you Ready...for LSU football??

I just have to share with you what I found when I got home from work just a while ago. One of these packages came the other day actually, but there was another today. Rob's brothers will be in town this weekend and we are going to Baton Rouge for the LSU- MS State game. Rob apparently got a lot of slack from his friends for wearing an Ole Miss shirt last week to the Ole Miss game, SO..... this is what we all will be wearing this weekend. Can you figure out which one is mine?

Kelley's baby shower

Today I helped give a baby shower for one of my best friends since the 3rd grade. My sweet Kelley. Kelley and her husband Ron live in Water Valley. Kelley is such a wonderful friend and a joy to be around. I have so many wonderful memories of us growing up together. I can't believe how fast time flies. It seems like only yesterday we were sitting in Mrs. Adams 3rd grade class not even knowing how much our friendship would mean to each other. I am so proud to call her one of my best friends, and was excited that I was able to do something for her before little Cohen arrives...she is due October 16th. Here are a few pics from the shower.

A sad day for the Ole Miss Rebels

Saturday morning, Rob and I drove to my parents in Water Valley so that I could get some stuff done for the baby shower that I was helping give on Sunday. That afternoon we headed to the grove for some good SEC football. I told Rob that I hate close games. I would much rather just see a blowout. I must have jinxed the Rebels, b/c we sure did watch a close game. Unfortuately, we lost..so so sad! I screamed so loud, I'm surprised I still have a voice!

Banks at 1 day old

After a very long day at work, I went to the hospital to see Amanda, Eric, and baby Banks. He is the most precious little boy! Amanda said they didn't get into their room last night until 1:00 AM. They were pretty exhausted. Here are a few pics from tonight.

Banks is here!!

YAY! Banks Allan Eaton was welcomed into this world at 6:36 tonight. He weighed 6 lbs. 15 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. He is so cute and had quite a fan club. I took a "sick" day today so I could be at the hospital..after all, I am a fairy god-mother. The rest of the fairies arrived so we had fun entertaining Amanda...and of course Eric provided plenty of that as well! Rob showed up after he got off work and got to babysit Amelia while we were taking pictures. Amanda was amazing throughout it all. Even before her epidural, she never lost her smile. You wouldn't have even known she was in labor. We didn't get a chance to see her after Banks was born, but plan to go tomorrow. We love you Amanda, Eric, and Banks!!

Amelia even got a Fairy god-sister shirt!

Ole Miss vs. Samford

Saturday we headed to Oxford to tailgate and watch Ole Miss and Samford. Ole Miss didn't play great, but they did get the win. Carol Anne and her family have a tent and are nice enough to let us crash the party. We got to the grove early enough to watch the team walk down the "Walk of Champions". It was pretty hot throughout the afternoon, but the weather was wonderful by game time at 6:00. Hotty Toddy!

Stephanie's party

Our good friend Stephanie Morris is moving to Chicago for seven months. She works for AllState and will be working on a project there. Please pray for her as she transitions into this new position. She has no idea what this "project" consists of or what her role will be in it. On Friday night, several of us got together at Gattitown (yes that's what I said) to have a little fun before she left. I kept wondering if I would see any of my students there, but never did. We also celebrated my friend Katie's 30th birthday. Oh what fun we had! We gave all of our tickets at the end of the night to Steph so she could get a "big" prize. I think we had about 1300 tickets total and all she got was a small MS State alarm clock. She was gracious enough to save a few of her tickets and gave us all very cool pencils. Here are a few pics from the night!

Remembering 9/11 by Eric Eaton

My friend Eric wrote this yesterday and I thought it was amazing! What a great writer the ole' banker is..and what a great way to remember that September day. Thanks Eric!

It was years ago but the image still strong;
as the towers fell, our innocence was gone.
Have we forgotten what happened that day;
As the sirens wailed, and lives crumbled away?
Have we lost the will and resolve to fight;
to punish the wrong and defend the right?

Where were you when you heard the news
that our beloved country was attacked and bruised?
Do we not remember the anguish and pain;
the feeling that the world had gone insane?
How much longer can we remain out of sight
as those all around chant "Let's quit; not fight"?

Will you do the right thing and stand with me?
Or will you hide your face and blame the country?
The moment has come and the time is now.
Will we stand up and fight or quit and bow?
As I sit here and gaze at our banner half mast,
a phrase comes to mind: Never Forget The Past.

God bless all lost on September 11, 2001
and those lost in the response to defend
Liberty around the world.

Amanda's baby shower

My dear friend Amanda is about a week away from giving birth to her first child. We are all very excited and can't wait to meet Banks Allan Eaton. We gave her a baby shower several weeks ago and it was so much fun! Carol Anne and I were a little confused about what some of the gifts were used for..I guess we will figure all this baby stuff out some day...

Our first year!

Well, I was talking to a friend the other day who has a blog and she encouraged me to start one. I thought it would be a great way to keep up with all our comings and goings.

So...here's a little summary of what's been going on this past year.

Rob and I got married on July 14th, 2007 in Water Valley. It was exactly how we wanted it to be. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was a blast. I have to give a plug to our
band b/c they were beyond amazing. The are called DMP from Memphis, TN. They even had my grandmother dancing... This is one of my favorite pics of my dad and me walking down the aisle.

my beautiful bridesmaids

our first dance was to "The way you look tonight" it started out slow and then they got faster...we weren't prepared!!

We spent our honeymoon in beautiful St. Lucia. We stayed at the resort Ladera. Our suite only had 3 walls. Where the 4th would have been, was an open view of the Carribean Sea. It was beautiful and breathtaking! The restaurant at our resort served the most finest food I have ever eaten. Our favorite was a chocolate moose inside of a cocoa pod...it was to die for. I celebrated my birthday during our honeymoon and Rob signed me up for a Hot Stone Massage....best I have ever had!

This was the view from our room!

During Fall of '07, we spent the majority of our time at Ole Miss football games....gotta LOVE my husband for agreeing to buy season tickets. He's an LSU fan, but I believe he enjoys watching the games regardless. We actually are getting to go to an LSU game this year, so I'm glad about that!

Christmas was spent in Water Valley with my family and then in San Antonio with Rob's family through New Years. We never had a dull moment. While in San Antonio, we went to the zoo, a Spurs Game, and to Fredricksburg, TX.....a small German town about an hour from SA (with great shopping). We are certainly blessed that our jobs allow us to have enough time off during the holidays to spend with both sets of parents.
This past June, Rob's parents and brothers were able to join us for a vacation at DisneyWorld. We felt like kids again! Rob had us up every morning and at the parks before they even opened. It was a lot of fun and we ate entirely too much food!! We stayed at the Port Orleans Resort on Disney Property. Despite being the middle of June, it wasn't too hot. It rained on and off and pretty much stayed overcast throughout the week. We were so blessed that Rob's family could join us. We hate that we can't see them as much as we would like...but we sure love our visits to San Antonio.

For our 1st anniversary, we went to Gatlinburg. Again..not a dull moment! There was so much to do. I told Rob that during our next trip, we would have to plan a day where we do nothing but lay by the pool. We were exhausted. One day we hiked in the Smoky Mountains and saw a bear and her three cubs. It's amazing how fast the year has gone. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband. Our first year of marriage was amazing. I look forward to the many many years that we will continue to share together. I love you Rob!!

So, as you can tell..our year has been full of excitement. It was busy, but we enjoyed every bit of it.
